Member States

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs is the government department responsible for improving and protecting the environment.

The United States Government joined the GFCR coalition with a commitment launched at the 27th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is dedicated to ending poverty and environmental devastation

The Government of Canada has joined the Fund’s coalition with a new commitment was launched by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the 26th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) in Glasgow.

The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) determines and implements France’s foreign policy.

In recognition of its innovative work in leveraging a science-based approach to accelerate reef-positive investment through public-private financing, UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) has endorsed the work of the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR) and its contribution to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

GFCR is endorsed as the first Race to Resilience campaign partner focused on coral reefs. Through a partnership of climate-smart initiatives, the Race to Resilience campaign is aligning with GFCR specifically to shore up resilience impacts for coastal communities and marine ecosystems

The Blue Nature Alliance is a global partnership that collaborates with governments, NGOs, local and Indigenous communities, scientists, and other organizations to catalyze and accelerate large-scale ocean conservation.
Convening Agents

The MAR Fund is the lead programme partner (Convening Agent) for the GFCR Grant Fund programme in the Mesoamerican Reef region (Mexico, Honduras, Belize and Guatemala). Read more about this programme launched in March of 2022 here.

Fondo Acción is the lead programme partner (Convening Agent) for the GFCR Grant Fund programme in Colombia. Read more about this programme launched in November of 2022 here.

Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is the lead programme partner (Convening Agent) for the GFCR Grant Fund regional programme in Kenya and Tanzania.

Blue finance is the lead programme partner (Convening Agent) for the GFCR Grant Fund programme in the Phillippines.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the lead programme partner for country programmes in Fiji and Papua New Guinea.

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is the lead programme partner (Convening Agent) for the GFCR Grant Fund programme in The Bahamas.
