Coral Reefs Restoration

Caribbean Reef Guardians is a non-profit organization based in Roatán, Honduras, dedicated to coral reef restoration, marine education, and community engagement. Its initiatives include coral nurseries, diver and youth training, and awareness activities in partnership with schools, dive centers, and eco-tourism actors. The organization is currently developing a land-based coral biobank in collaboration with Branch Foundation and a marine education center, envisioned as a “coral factory” for large-scale reef restoration and an interactive space for research, learning, and sustainable tourism, bridging conservation with financial sustainability and community empowerment.

Its financial sustainability relies on a hybrid model including coral adoptions, educational tourism and visitor programs, marine science courses aligned with SSI standards, grants and donations, and partnerships with NGOs, eco-hotels, tour operators, and corporations.

The venture participated in the first MAR+Invest bootcamp taking place prior to the third cohort of the Acceleration Program in 2025.
