Corals and Culture: San Andrés Through a Sustainable Lens
The project is set in the San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina Archipelago, a Caribbean region rich in marine biodiversity, including coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass beds, and home to the Raizal community whose history and cultural ties are deeply connected to the marine environment. Project activities span both land and surrounding marine areas, providing an integrated experience that connects travelers with nature and the local community. Objectives include raising tourist awareness of marine biodiversity and Raizal culture, promoting responsible tourism, encouraging the consumption of lionfish to mitigate its environmental impact, and repositioning San Andrés from a party and beach destination to a cultural and nature-focused tourism hub.
