Eco-label Membership in Kupang and Sumba (FMA 573)
This initiative aims to secure resource access for small-scale fishers while ensuring sustainability standards across the snapper and grouper fisheries supply chain in the Savu Sea region.
This decision was informed by scientific assessments, including fisheries frame surveys, fishing fleet surveys, and supply chain mapping. Most data collection activities are completed, and a business landscape analysis and feasibility study are also underway to identify viable models for sustainable supply chains.
Engagement with local governments and small-scale fishing communities has begun to support the development of sustainable management plans. These efforts aim to establish a co-management framework that brings together local authorities, communities, and private sector actors.
