Coastal Development

EHCP operates an eco‑friendly mooring field in Elizabeth Harbour to significantly reduce anchor damage to sensitive seagrass and coral ecosystems. In Phase 1 of BahamaReefs, EHCP installed 64 moorings, offering boaters a safe, environmentally responsible alternative to anchoring. The system serves both ecological and financial purposes: it protects marine habitats and generates recurring revenue through mooring fees.

Building on strong market traction and demonstrated revenue potential, EHCP aims to expand the mooring field by an additional 40 moorings, modernize management systems, and strengthen local stewardship. This approach helps transition a traditional conservation NGO into a hybrid model with blended‑finance readiness, supporting long-term sustainability and reducing reliance on grant.
