Kobumi Marine
links coastal ecotourism & fisheries with community-led reef stewardship and active conservation
Kobumi Marine (a subsidiary of the social enterprise EcoBumi) partners with indigenous and coastal communities to develop sustainable, marine-based livelihoods through community-led fisheries and ecotourism. The business manages community-based dive centers, charters vessels for scientific research, and aggregates sustainably sourced marine products like wild-caught shrimp. This model incentivizes marine conservation by linking local economic revenue directly to reef stewardship, promoting low-impact fishing, and preventing destructive harvesting practices like blast fishing.
