The company's underwater bonding technology mainly utilizes catechol and related technologies for adhesion applications in underwater, wet, and humid conditions.
Mussel Polymers’ solutions for dental and biomedical applications are non-toxic adhesives made from Poly-Catechol Styrene (PCS), which binds various types of tissues fast and safely. The long-lasting bonding is suitable for repairs and replacements in dentistry.
The company has also developed a non-toxic, fast-curing adhesives solution for coral restoration. It has also developed a system that can be deployed in salt water in a short time and at a low cost.
At present, it is in final testing and is expected to be in the market in Q1 of 2022.Mussel Polymer has received a Phase-one SBIR grant from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for the development of a robust, safe, and fast underwater adhesive system to help new corals develop at the time of reef reconstruction.Mussel Polymer’s first product, Poly-Catechol Styrene (PCS) based polymers, has been licensed by Purdue University.
