Parley for the Oceans

Parley for the Oceans is a global environmental organization and network of creators, thinkers and leaders who raise awareness for the beauty and fragility of the oceans and collaborate to end the cycle of destruction. Working across major brands, governments, communities and environmental groups, Parley leads a range of initiatives that drive systemic change and empower more impactful participation in the environmental cause.

Central to this effort is the Parley AIR Strategy (Avoid, Intercept, Redesign), which addresses pollution by avoiding plastics and other harmful substances, intercepting waste and emissions, and redesigning materials and business models to work in harmony with nature. This approach has led to successful partnerships with major brands, resulting in the creation of Ocean Plastic® — a range of high-performance, premium materials made from upcycled plastic debris intercepted from marine environments and coastal communities. Catalyzing the long-term goal of a Material Revolution, Parley Ocean Plastic® has achieved significant environmental and cultural impact and supported ocean initiatives around the world.

Since its inception in 2012, Parley has built a diverse network of partners spanning science, art, fashion, design, technology, finance, entertainment, sport, space and ocean exploration. The organization has also developed community-based models in island nations and countries that are disproportionately impacted by climate change, plastic pollution and industrial overfishing, creating sustainable livelihoods, increasing access to ocean education and addressing pollution at its source. In the last years, Parley has expanded its focus to developing, funding and scaling new materials that replace harmful, fossil fuel-based products with natural, biofabricated alternatives, envisioning a future where human life is in harmony with the oceans.

Looking ahead, Parley is committed to redefining business practices and advocating for a new economy that centers on collaboration with nature. It continues to inspire and empower individuals, businesses, and governments to join the fight for ocean preservation and eco-innovation.

Parley Ocean Defense

Parley Ocean Defense is the operational arm of Parley for the Oceans, dedicated to the direct protection of marine ecosystems. It addresses key threats such as overfishing, pollution, and habitat destruction by partnering with governments, environmental organizations, and local communities to implement strategic interventions.

Working closely with governments, Parley Ocean Defense provides comprehensive solutions to end the plastic crisis and develop new economic models based on new materials. The organization also focuses on building capacity in local communities, supporting them with knowledge, technology, and career opportunities, particularly in developing countries. This approach fosters local champions, creates jobs, and promotes personal growth, aligning environmental efforts with economic development.
