PortBin
PortBin collection devices, created by SpillTech AS, are an array of machines for capturing floating waste in bodies of water and on shores.
The solution was developed as an effective way to collect trash and waste products in ports, coastal areas, and other shoreline areas. The company used its experience in oil spill technology in creating the solution.
The products are: PortBin Tide- Collects floating marine waste in ports by sucking in water/debris and filtering the waste into a container. It comes in three versions based on size and capacity needs: the PortBin Tide, PortBin Tide S, and PortBin Tide XL.
PortBin TrashTrawl- It is placed across the river and collects floating marine waste from it. It also uses no external power as it relies on the river's current to move the waste towards the trawl. PortBin Robot - The robot is a prototype and is under development in cooperation with The University of Southeast Norway. It is remotely operated and has a wide scoop in front that collects the trash.
PortBin ShoreCleaner - The cleaner is nearly finished and will focus on vacuuming marine waste and oil/sorbent mixtures at the shoreline. There is no filter, the cleaner is portable, and is driven by a small engine.
Aside from these, the company is also developing prototype of future products. Organizations who have utilized their solutions include many ports and harbors throughout northwestern Europe.
It is also looking to expand its reach in Asia and North America.
