Reef Shelter
The value proposition of this project lies in its innovative approach to coral reef restoration, based on sustainable tourism, environmental education, and citizen science. The initiative proposes a positive intervention in a degraded area of the Nirvana Reef, located in the southeastern sector of San Andrés, through the installation of biomimetic ceramic sculptures—replicas of real corals—that will serve as shelter for marine fauna and as a starting point for restoring the health of the habitat.
In parallel, the project seeks to strengthen the teaching of safe recreational diving practices that are respectful of both human life and coral reef ecosystems, while actively promoting citizen participation in reef restoration processes. To this end, a transformative tourism experience will be developed around the biomimetic ceramic sculptures, aimed at strengthening ecological awareness and fostering an emotional connection between participants and coral reefs.
