Aquaculture Practices

Sea Green seeks to enhance aquacultural value chains from end to end through the digital, organisational and financial enablement of coastal communities engaged in primary production, optimising the links with their end consumers to stimulate growth of the Blue Economy.

Facilitating innovation, Sea Green will unlock the sustainable potential of our oceans, not only for the benefit of the involved communities, but bringing it to bear on the greatest challenges humanity faces today - Climate Change, Inequality and Food Security.

The initial objective of Sea Green is to empower coastal community resilience and build capacity throughout Southeast Asia. Holistically redesigning seaweed industry supply chains will not only stimulate economic empowerment, but provide replicable models for other coastal individuals, groups and communities, scalable through the Sea Green digital platform.

The primary objective of Sea Green is to enhance community resilience by bringing value to the community in a holistic way through capacity building and economic empowerment. Sea Green works directly with its strategic partner in Indonesia, MARI Oceans, to ensure community driven decision-making processes and the creation of resilience from within through collaboratives structuring, credit unions and MFIs (Microfinance Institutions) End-to-end transparency for buyers is provided by the company’s proprietary traceability engine, integrating blockchain technology into a platform that not only accommodates downstream needs, but enables real time payment and data monitoring capabilities for the farmers themselves.

The interoperability and data clarity of the platform further enables access to finance at both micro and institutional levels, commercial and disaster protection and education programmes, all facilitated by Sea Green’s strategic partners and commitment to open architecture.

The solution ensures scalability through consolidated data reporting and analytics capabilities, overlayed upon the "big data" collected via the traceability engine. This allows communities access to meaningful insights and visualisations to help iteratively improve sustainable and resilient farming practices, that ultimately translate into increased and consistent yields for buyers and a stable market for aquacultural commodities Provision of access to this data for universities, global and local NGOs, research institutions and government and supranational agencies allows for impact monitoring on a global scale, guaranteeing impact across multiple social, environmental and governance metrics.

The solution has partnered with Asia Affinity, Seatech, MICRA Indonesia, CH4 Global, Seadling, and Finserv Experts. It can benefit the fishermen and farmer community, enhance the food supply chain, and improve the environment.
