Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park (TRNP) is a non-profit organization that is in charge of maintaning the Tubbataha Reef, a Marine Protected Area and a World Heritage Site.

The natural park was established in 2009 with the passing of the TRNP Act of 2009 in the Philippines in an effort to protect the reef from over-fishing and from destructive forms of fishing such as the use of dynamite or cyanide.

The park’s initiatives include:

  • Tourism- the TRNP runs dive tours across several sites throughout the natural park in an effort to generate funds that will be used to maintain and manage the park. The park also enforces rules regarding interactions with the marine wildlife for divers to follow.
  • Conservation- the park also runs conservation projects throughout the park to keep its marine ecosystems safe from threats of over-fishing and from climate change.

The TRNP protects the North Atoll, the South Atoll, and the Jessie Beazley Reef. It monitors 17 dive sites surrounding these locations.
