Planblue is creating an Underwater Satellite to scan and monitor the seafloor, improving ocean conservation.

Aside from seafloor monitoring, the Underwater Satellite can scan man-made underwater structures by integrating RGB imaging and hyperspectral data with artificial intelligence (AI) and underwater navigation. It is also capable of analyzing health status and plastic waste pollution on the seafloor and can be used by divers to scan river beds and lakes. Some key features and advantages of the Underwater Satellite include:

  • It is equipped with Planblue® software, which provides data on invasive algae and coral bleaching.
  • It can help mitigate climate change.
  • It uses AI to provide an objective assessment of the seafloor.
  • It is low-cost.
  • Planblue's technology is in the prototype stage.
  • Several partnerships have been formed, including with SeaForester, the German
  • Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence, and Sea Going Green. It is also supported by Climate-KIC and the EXIST Start-up program, among others.

In June 2022, Planblue received the Geospatial World Forum Technology Innovation Award to further develop its technology.
