Blue Nature Alliance Global MPA Finance Survey

The Blue Nature Alliance in partnership with the Conservation Finance Alliance and IUCN WCPA Sustainable Finance Specialist Group is excited to conduct a Global MPA Finance Survey. As countries look to implement their 30x30 ambitions, developing MPA finance plans can be essential to an MPA’s success. However, this process can be challenging and costly due to knowledge and capacity constraints. The objective of this initiative is to conduct an in-depth global analysis of MPA finances to expand knowledge and access to tools for MPA financial planning.

This survey will ask questions about MPA costs and funding and will take 15-30 minutes to complete. The data collected in this survey will be used to develop an MPA cost model and other tools that will be shared publicly. Participating sites will receive early access to tools, as well as customized benchmark reports that will allow you to compare your MPA's financial performance to an anonymous group of peers. These insights can empower you and other MPA practitioners to identify opportunities to strengthen the financial sustainability of your MPA.

This survey is designed to collect information at the level of individual MPAs. Site-level financial data for an individual MPA is strongly preferred, but for organizations funding multiple MPA sites, we can accept aggregate financial data. While complete answers are preferred, incomplete or non-answers can still be accepted.

We prioritize your data privacy. All individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be disclosed or used for any purposes other than those explicitly outlined. The collected data will only be used for aggregated analysis.
