Blue NbS in Nationally Determined Contributions

The Blue Solution project, supported by various organizations and financed by the German Environment Ministry, has released a booklet highlighting marine and coastal Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).

The booklet showcases successful examples of sustainably rehabilitating and managing ecosystems like coral reefs, providing implementation ideas and models for countries revising their NDCs.

It emphasizes the crucial role of marine and coastal environments in mitigating climate change and supporting climate resilience.

Coral reefs, in particular, are highlighted for their ability to reduce wave heights, offer adaptation solutions, enhance food security, and support coastal communities.

However, climate change significantly threatens these fragile ecosystems, leading to their gradual degradation.
