Embedding Inclusion in Coral Reef Conservation: Evidence from the Global Fund for Coral Reefs

This case study examines how the Global Fund for Coral Reefs is embedding Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) across its global portfolio. Drawing on practical examples from Colombia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Mesoamerican Reef and beyond, it shows how redesigning finance, enterprise support and programme delivery can remove structural barriers and expand access to livelihoods, leadership and investment. It also identifies lessons for strengthening inclusive and lasting coral reef finance initiatives.
