The IMPAQT project, after four years of teamwork, has made significant strides in aquaculture sustainability and implementing the Integrated Multi-trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) system. This comprehensive project brings together many stakeholders, leveraging technology for effective aquaculture management. Their newly published handbook provides in-depth knowledge about their progress, pilot sites, decision-making models, and system functionalities. With its capacity for innovation, diversification, and technological advancement, Aquaculture has tremendous growth potential within the EU. This sector is pivotal for transitioning to sustainable food systems and developing the bio and circular economy.
The IMPAQT project aims to transform traditional monoculture practices into a circular, sustainable aquaculture model, enhancing sector efficiency and productivity alongside sustainability and circularity. It aligns with the EU's strategic guidelines for more sustainable and competitive aquaculture.
