To address this critical concern, an informative online series of activities and events was organized, aimed at demystifying the problem and exploring innovative approaches to combat it.

The "Explore Ocean Sewage Series" featured insightful webinars that shed light on various aspects of wastewater pollution and its impact on the environment, coral reefs, and coastal communities.

The series covered topics such as wastewater basics, nitrogen pollution management efforts on Long Island, sewage impacts in Hawai'i, sewage mitigation projects worldwide, behaviorally-informed solutions, collaboration with the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector, and effective wastewater treatment methods like constructed wetlands and HandyPods.

Additionally, experts discussed the tradeoffs associated with different wastewater management strategies concerning climate, environment, and public health, including their impact on pathogens, greenhouse gases, marine eutrophication, and ocean acidification.
