Workshop Report: GFCR Western Indian Ocean Convening

From 10-13 February 2025, the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR), the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN) of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI), CORDIO East Africa, and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) hosted a regional workshop in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The workshop consisted of two sessions: 1) the REEF+ GFCR knowledge management platform and 2) GFCR and regional coral reef monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. The two workshops provided an opportunity for country programmes and coral reef experts from local and international organizations, national governments, non-governmental organizations and UN agencies based in the Western Indian Ocean and Red Sea regions to convene, learn and collaborate.
