Abyss Vanuatu Ocean Institute (AVOI)

The Abyss Vanuatu Ocean Institute (AVOI) is a marine conservation and reef restoration initiative based in Havannah Harbour, Vanuatu, established following the 2024 earthquake that impacted local reef ecosystems. Built on 25+ years of marine operations in Australia, AVOI combines scientific partnerships, community support, and Reef Ball deployments to restore habitat and protect endangered species including hawksbill turtles. Co-funded through eco-tourism, AVOI delivers scalable reef restoration, builds local capacity, improves fish biomass, and strengthens food security across Pacific communities.
