Under the Wave is a Zanzibar-based non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring marine ecosystems while supporting sustainable coastal livelihoods. Inspired by Zanzibar’s unique marine environment, our work began with the establishment of the island’s first turtle nesting center. Today, we focus on coral reef restoration, sea turtle conservation, marine biodiversity monitoring, environmental education, and community engagement. By combining scientific research, local knowledge, and sustainable blue economy initiatives, we strive to build healthy oceans, resilient communities, and a sustainable future.
