Each year, Ocean Exchange hosts an event to recognize and help advance innovation in technologies aimed at the health of oceans and the Blue Economy. Solutions represent such categories as alternative materials, CO2 reduction and sequestration, data/robotics, digitalization, energy, fisheries/marine habitat, vessel/port operations, and water treatment.
The Ocean Exchange event is also important in creating awareness of the role the oceans play in the health and future of theplanet, as well as showcasing advancements that are already being made. It has become a must-attend experience for industry experts and decision-makers from around the world.
At the event, the winners of the Monetary Awards are chosen—based on the impact, level of innovation, and the ability to execute the presented solution. The winners are chosen by delegates representing business, academia, government, and non-profits. Each award has non-dilutive prize money of $100,000 USD. In addition, there are Collegiate Awards, presented to younger start-up companies, with prize money of $10,000 USD.
While significant, the prize money is only part of the story. This event is attended by senior-level executives and decision-makers from all key sectors involved in the Blue Economy. These individuals are part of Ocean Exchange’s ecosystem that supports award winners and other participants in the event in further development and commercialization of their solutions.
